I saw Virgil tonight w/ Bunny Brunel, Patrice Rushen, and Tony. When I saw a local show in LA a few weeks ago with Virgil he said he was too busy too spend a lot of time on the PX site so I copied all the fan reviews posted, the discussion on time signatures, and a few other odds & ends and I gave it to him. I wanted him to see how far reaching his fans and PX's fans are all over the globe. Hopefully he will share it w/Tony also. They smoked tonight. Sorry, I tried to record it but had technical difficulties w/my mic.

I bet that they played songs from the upcoming CAB album. Can you tell us a few things about the songs you listened to there? Did they play any songs from "CAB2" cd? How do the songs they played really sound? My personal opinion is that the next step for CAB (after the release of the new album) should be a live recording with Virgil Donati (maybe) on the drums. Something like this will be really interesting for all the fans of the band.

Right on- from CAB 2 they played Dennis and another tune. They played several from Cab 1 and one from the upcoming Cab 3. They covered some standards for them- Billy Cobham, Bill Bruford, and Tony Willams' Lifetime. They vary things.
They were smokin'- it all sounded good to me, especially after someone told Tony to turn his ax up.
I believe Chambers is on Cab3 as well w/Brian Auger. Virgil is taking off w/Tony for some shows so I don't think any live stuff is happening soon according to Bunny last night. I tried to record the show last night but had some technical difficulties. I was really bummed. As a drummer, I wanted to catch Virg's solo on tape. Last time I saw this line-up I swore I would try and tape it. Now I find they are not going to play for some time w/Planet X touring and all the other gigs they have. I'm not a guitar player, but Tony was killin' last night. His solo's were technically awesome but very musical. I love his style- he seems so humble and laid back- these guys are such pros it's sick.

I thought of a lot of you X fans last night when a buddy of mine invited a bunch of young people to the show- to expose the pop/hip-hop crowd to jazz-fusion music.

How many of you all over the globe would have killed to see this show? These college age kids lasted no more than three songs and were OUT! They paid $20 bucks cover and 2 drink min and split after three tunes. Oh well...I guess they are so saturated with 3 min pop tunes they didn't know a song could actually last over five mins.

WELCOME TO LA!!!

They definately smoked, thats for sure. I was at the show as well. I took a couple of pictures. I will put them up here ASAP.

I was amazed at Tony's playing. The man is simply so fluid on his guitar. Bunny Brunel was awesome as well. What a bassist!

Ill post a pic or two up over here soon!

Cheers!

Hey Chris-
Your not the guy shooting the video from time-to-time are you? I would love to get some T-Shirts going from this site. I've asked another guy who is a master of a dedication site for Vinnie and Dave- House of Drumming- but there was copyright laws to consider. I still think it could be done, omitting any photos of the players if that indeed is an issue.
I just think it would be way cool to see someone wearing a T-shirt at a show that I might have read a post from. Guys all over the globe read and post in this forum- many visit LA- the T-shirt from PX website would cut through.

Yup that was me. I was shooting some digital shots and small video clips on my camera from time to time. I was talking to Virgil quite a bit during breaks too. It was great to see him again...Tony too!

The person you're referring to from houseofdrumming.com is Steve Holmes. I actually got to know about him through another website before I knew that he knew Virgil from the LA area. There will be some swag going on on the site once the tour dates launches, Im sure... We will sell a couple of shirts from here as well.

I personally cant wait for the tour to take off so that a lot of you guys can start taking pics and sending them over here! smile.gif

Cheers!

Well I just like too Say that PLANETX has really got me hooked.I have always been a Dream Theater fan and I have always admired these three superior musicians,I feel as though the "RADIO " industry are causing great selfishness too our younger listeners not only that the industry is destroying the very funding for new craetive talents i.e.the schooled muscians as well as the less fortunates who have too slugg it out in the garages and basements end up draining the rescources on the so-called cut a paste
editing 1 track line up groups (Brittneys)what a freeken waste!!!Well anyway I am shocked and amazed at these new PX cd releases,I am left speechless
MOONBABIES is AWESOME,NEBULAS,Calluptillitic and more over just down right an Allien stomping ground
for those who wish too deny PLANETXs right to educate the mainstream masses in RADIO industry
music!!!!It has been a real treat and an honor to be so fortunate in taking part of the PX treatment, they are indeed topshelf conjurers of music and I definetly most the the adeptus progidus
newbuis muscian and I enjoy and honor the education of being PX ed !!!!
THANK YOU
YOUR FAN and PUPIL

Hey Miltos
7 Months are playing locally here in So Cal and I will try to check them out. Thanks for the head's up! I downloaded one song and they reminded me a lot of Fates Warning.
