So, since those samples from MoonBabies were released last week, what do you guys think so far?

A lot of you can't wait to hear how it sounds...let alone to hear Planet X playing those songs LIVE in front of your eyes!

Post your thoughts on "Boy with a Flute" and "Ignotus". Feel free to talk 'technical'...after all, Planet X IS insanely technical!

They kept the sound from Universe, maybe a lil polished. I like it very much! smile.gif

I am impressed with the little I've heard. A touch better sound quality and more clarity in the individual instruments, maybe having to do with the mixing process. Very innovative and technical as you would expect from Planet X.

Very excited about the new album. Cannot wait!

I think the sound is VERY different from Universe!
So far it sounds amazing in my ears!
Quite easy to hear Simon in the proces!
I think a blend between the very warm D.S. tongue.gif X-sound and the very hard Universe-sound would be perfect! Virg´s drumsound on "Boy with a flute"; MAN it sounds nasty(in a good way)
Can´t wait....

Simon is mastering the new PLANET X album "MoonBabies" today. He has also produced and mixed the CD.
Simon begins to work on the drum tracks for David Sherinians next solo CD on June 10."

all i gotta say is that the samples rock out \m/ \m/ but i have to admit i liked ignotus better live when tony didnt throw in that second quick solo on the ignotus clip, it sounds doctored and fake. Other than that you can tell that the ballance is much better and that Virgil has a big influence on the music this time more than ever. He doesn know how to hit it up on the key boards you know, Tony too.

THE MUSIC FROM "MOONBABIES" (THE SAMPLES) IS JUST SICK AND BEAUTIFUL, you can't argue with that, but I was worried about their work with Simon Phillips ("the slick master" we say), and my suspicion came true, their work with Simon has not been good to them guys...
Like the sound on Derek's "Inertia" and even "Live From Oz" the music comes out great but nothing much happens (or in his work with Joe Satriani and Mike Oldfield for that matter).
I mean the man is a really good drummer but he doesn't show that in his mixing style though, you can barely hear the kick drum, the snare on the new album is so horrible you can't wait to hit the stop button fast enough to bring some silence to your ears (it sounds like a shotgun blast of some sort or any thing near these terrible nu-metal sneardrums) and the heaviness just isn't there at all, I like the "Live..." mix more than the studio albums though...
The sound's to slick.
There's no dynamics in it and why couldn't they just get a producer who is more of a gambler instead of this "PRODUCTION FOR PRODUCERS" kinda guy???
Just because the man is nice (n cheap?), does not mean the work's gonna be done.
There are lotta producers out there with some of the dynamics we are all looking for (in my opinion any way).
Take for instance BOB ROCK and/or this Dutch guy ARJEN ANTHONY LUCASSEN, there you got some producers with some great heaviness to show...

I probably gonna by this new album anyway but why dose not anyone but me here these kinda things???
People just swallows any thing these days, pity...
