Guys, just a quick question/suggestion. Is there a particular reason why PX/Derek is not on Twitter. I think it would help to spread the word about our favourite band. Steve Lukather, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and many others use Twitter actively to connect with fans. It might be worth looking into.

I don't know their reasons for not being on twitter, although I could think of some.
Personally, I fucking hate twitter, it's all just attention-whoring-bullshit. People who have absolutely nothing important to say just endlessly send every of their pathetic useless mindfarts into cyberspace. I really hate it.

I agree that it wouldn't make much sense to write trivial (or private) stuff like what you had for lunch etc. The key would be to approach it as a business/marketing tool and then it could make sense f.e. updates on recordings, tours, share intresting music, avoid disappearing in between releases etc. It is quicker than updating a website.

There's only one way to found out if this would work for PX/Derek...if it doesn't : delete the account.

Yeah, that could be interesting, although I doubt that there are much updates to share anyway. :p

Dude, that's like every one of my posts!:p
I don't like Twitter, either. Looking forward to Planet X updates of the form "LOL dis derkek, just 8t sammich and told Virg he sux @ drum" would give me immediate and simultaneous cerebral, myocardial and pulmonary infarction's.
Although, to be honest, I'll take any updates at this point.

It is possible to block followers or protect your tweets. And again be smart about it,...approach it like a marketing/business tool and don't get caught up in any pitchfalls thinking all people follow you because they are genuinely interested in what you do.
Times are changing....social networking offers a new tool also for musicians, why not try to use it to your advantage.

Yeah, I definitely agree with you. In fact, it could do nothing but help them at this point. I check Anekdoten's Facebook page everyday because, not only do they post regular updates, they interact with their fans - which is really cool as I have discovered some incredible bands from their recommendations.
Maybe with a new album in works, they will start doing something like this.

i understand that these networking tools are important as a lot of peopl are using them, but at least for me they don't do much. i hate them. almost all of them. personally, i dont give a damn cent about what bands do other than releasing music, going on tour and or giving recommendations about other music, gear and that kind of stuff. i hate that whole new era of bullshit marketing and i am happy that px doesnt use it. I could understand it if they did, though, because maybe it actually would make sense in terms of selling, but i am very happy that they don't.
